Connecting Cultures: Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Agreement

Canada’s commitment to fostering global connections and cultural exchange reaches new heights with the launch of the Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Agreement. This groundbreaking initiative, announced by the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, opens doors for Canadian and Finnish youth aged 18 to 35 to embark on transformative work and travel experiences in each other’s countries.

Unveiling the Agreement
Marking the culmination of efforts initiated with the signing of the agreement on May 19, 2023, the Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Agreement comes into effect on March 1, 2024. Under the International Experience Canada (IEC) Program or its Finnish counterpart, participants gain the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse cultures, develop vital life skills, and forge lasting connections that transcend borders.
Promoting Cultural Exchange

As Canada and Finland commemorate 77 years of diplomatic relations, this agreement serves as a testament to the enduring bonds and shared values between the two nations. Through the IEC program, participants have the chance to delve into the rich heritage and traditional knowledge of the Sámi people, offering a unique cultural exchange opportunity for Indigenous youth in Canada. By investing in the potential of youth, both countries are paving the way for a stronger, more interconnected global community.
