Extension of Special Measures
The special measures, initially introduced to aid Iranian nationals and Canadians affected by the situation, have now been extended until February 28, 2025. This extension aims to ensure ongoing assistance and support for those impacted by the events in Iran.
Key Provisions
- Support for Iranian Nationals in Canada: Iranian nationals in Canada holding valid temporary resident status can avail themselves of various benefits under these special measures. They can continue to study, work, or visit family by applying for an extension of their status free of charge. Additionally, they have the option to move between temporary streams within Canada at no cost.
- Assistance for Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents in Iran: Canadian citizens and permanent residents residing in Iran who wish to depart the country can continue to apply for passports and permanent resident travel documents without any fees.
The extension of these special measures underscores Canada’s commitment to supporting those affected by the situation in Iran. By providing assistance and facilitating necessary processes, Canada aims to alleviate the challenges faced by Iranian nationals and Canadians alike.
How to Avail Support
Affected individuals are encouraged to take advantage of these special measures by reaching out to relevant authorities for assistance.
